Ride the rails
Most visitors to Toronto who come by way of chartering a private jet into Toronto International likely have made plans for their ground transportation once they get there. However, if that isn’t the case, it’s worth taking a look at the Union Pearson Express airport rail link that takes riders the 14 miles from Toronto Pearson Airport to Union Station in downtown Toronto in 25 minutes – even with stops at Weston Station and Bloor Station.
Trains, which operate seven days a week between 5:27 a.m. and 12:57 a.m., leave the airport every 15 minutes from the rail station in Terminal 1.
The Union Pearson Express, called the UP Express, opened in 2015 with the goal of carrying more than two million passengers a year, which would get about a million cars off the road between the airport and downtown.
The best time to charter a private jet into Toronto
Winters are bitterly cold in Toronto, a city of 6 million people on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario. High temperatures rarely get out of the 30s from December through February in Toronto, the capital of the Canadian province of Ontario.
And, you are likely to encounter ice storms until about May. But, after that, the city comes alive. A charming mixture of modern high rises and abundant green space, Toronto is a great place to visit in the spring, when average high temperatures are in the 60s and 70s. August is as humid as the winter is cold but the fall, when average highs are in the high 40s and 50s, is also a great time to explore one of the most diverse cities in the world. People of more than 230 nationalities – half of which were not born in Canada – call Toronto home. And, the interesting thing is, there is really no dominant nationality, making for a truly diverse population. Some 17 percent of the population of the entire country lives in Toronto.

The Toronto Film Festival
There are many reasons to rent a private jet into Toronto Pearson but nothing draws more private jets to the largest city in Canada than the Toronto International Film Festival, which is held in September.
There are so many stars coming into Toronto on private jets that rows and rows of private jets line the airport parking areas like cars at a shopping mall at Christmas time. And, since just about everyone turns into a star-stalker during the event, the fixed base operators have quite a job to do keeping the stars’ arrivals as discrete as possible.
Some movie stars love the crowd adulation but most want to come and go in private, exhausted from the red carpets, screenings and VIP parties. Lauren Bacall is reputed as being one of the most famous stars who loved being mobbed by fans. She would never refuse to stop and pose for pictures or sign autographs.
The Toronto Star, reported that the FBOs have a challenge as big as smuggling an elephant into a room. But, while the challenge is formidable, it’s not impossible.
Celebrities deplane their private jet and hop into a ready and waiting limousine. Once at the hotel, they are often brought in through a secret entrance or even whisked through the kitchen.
Skyservice said the Toronto Film Festival is by far its busiest time of the year. Its private terminal includes a luxury lounge with a wall of windows overlooking the runway, a 24-hour concierge and meals for anyone who wants something to eat.
If even the private lounge is too public for one of the stars, a representative from the Canada Border Services Agency will board the private jet to process passengers before even leaving the aircraft. Then they can deplane, hop in their private car, which has already been loaded with their baggage, and take off.
Sports, sports and more sports
Toronto is home to many professional sports teams that draw fans from around the world. Rent a private jet to YYZ to see the:
- Toronto Argonauts, a professional Canadian football team that competes in the East Division of the Canadian Football League. The team plays at BMO Field.
- Toronto Blue Jays, a Major League baseball team that competes in the American League East division. The team plays at Rogers Centre, originally called the SkyDome.
- Toronto FC, a Major League Soccer team, the Toronto Football Club competes in the Eastern Conference. The team plays at BMO Field.
- Toronto Maple Leafs, a National Hockey League team that competes in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. The team plays at Scotiabank Arena.
- Toronto Raptors, a member of the National Basketball Association, the Raptors compete in the league’s Eastern Conference Atlantic Division. The team also plays at Scotiabank Arena.
A couple things that are just plain interesting:
Giving yourself away
It is said that Torontonians can spot tourists by the way in which they pronounce the city’s name. Out-of-towners say it the way it’s spelled, “Tor-ON-to.” Locals, however, tend to ignore the second T, saying “Toronno,” or, shortening it even further to “Trawna.”
It’s Jamaican you like it
A tower of power
The 1,500-foot CN Tower, built in 1976, made the list. It was the world’s tallest free-standing until the Shanghai World Financial Center was built in 2008. However, the CN Tower remains the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. More than two million people visit the CN Tower every year.
