More about the King Air C90

In January of 1964, the first Beechcraft, the model 65-90, made its first flight. Several years later, a pressurized model was developed and was introduced as the King Air 90. In 1984, the King Air C90A was introduced as the next installment in the King Air line. When compared to its predecessors, this model incorporated several updated features, such as an improved cowling design, an updated three bus electrical system, hydraulically actuated landing gear and a Collins Pro Line avionics suite. After a successful production run, the King Air C90A was succeeded by the King Air C90B

Capabilities of the King Air C90

The King Air C90 comes equipped with two Pratt and Whitney Canada PT6A-21 engines. Each engine is rated at 550 shaft horsepower at takeoff. The King Air C90 requires just 2,275 feet of runway to take off at sea level on a standard day. At an airport with an elevation of 5,000 feet, this takeoff requirement increases to 3,750 feet of runway. With four passengers, the King Air C90 needs only 2,100 feet of runway to land. This private business jet features a maximum certificated service ceiling of 30,000 feet and a maximum range of 1,125 nautical miles. For a flight to a further destination, the King Air C90 is capable of maintaining an airspeed of 212 knots at an altitude of 24,000 feet in a long range cruise configuration. For a swifter flight, this private business jet is capable of maintaining an airspeed of 222 knots at an altitude of 12,000 feet in a high-speed cruise configuration.

The avionics package selected for many King Air C90A models is the Collins Pro Line avionics system. This advanced avionics suite was designed to reduce pilot workload and was featured as standard equipment starting with the 1984 model year. For King Air C90A models without this suite come equipped with a King avionics system. Instrumentation typically found in the Collins suite include dual DME 40, dual VHF 20A comms, dual VIR 30A navs, an ADF 60, dual TDR 90 transponders, a WXR 270 CLR weather radar, an APS 65 autopilot, and an ADS 65 flight director.
